With the A's leaving Oakland, should Walnut Creek locals finally just admit they're Giants country?

The East Bay has long been split between Giants and A's fans, but with the Athletics heading to Sacramento and eventually Las Vegas, some say it's time for Contra Costa diehards to pick a permanent side. Is this the moment WC becomes unambiguous Giants territory, or will A's loyalty survive exile?

Born and raised in Walnut Creek, went to my first A's game at the Coliseum in 1989 with my dad. We sat in the bleachers, Rickey Henderson was still on the team, and the place smelled like hot dogs and cigarette smoke and it was PERFECT. You don't just abandon that because some billionaire owner decided Nevada casinos are more important than Oakland families. I will be an A's fan until I die. Full stop.

My uncle used to say Walnut Creek was always the suburbs that couldn't make up its mind about anything. Starbucks or Peet's. Giants or A's. Liberal bumper sticker but votes no on every housing measure. Some things never change I guess.

The A's left. The Giants stayed. This is like asking whether someone who got dumped should keep wearing their ex's sweatshirt. Honey. No. Come to the light. We have better stadium food anyway and Buster Posey won us THREE rings. THREE.

Hard disagree with this whole premise. Loyalty to a team isn't geography, it's identity. My kids grew up wearing green and gold. My youngest literally cried when the Coliseum announcement came through. We're not switching because some corporate suits want a Vegas tax break. Anyone who swaps allegiance that fast was never really a fan to begin with, and I'll say that to anyone in the comments.

Actually the A's haven't officially relocated to Las Vegas yet — they're playing in Sacramento as a temporary stop — so anyone declaring the A's dead is jumping the gun by at least two or three years. The lease situation is still being worked out. Can people please do five minutes of research before posting takes like this?

Lol okay so the A's are technically playing in Sacramento now which means they're literally closer to Walnut Creek than San Francisco is. Someone want to explain to me how that makes us Giants country??

i mean i've lived here 3 years and honestly most of my neighbors have giants gear in their garages so this isn't even really a debate from where i'm sitting. walnut creek was always more giants than people wanted to admit. the bart ride to oracle is cleaner anyway
